Description

The 7.3mm self-loading carbine model 1952 was the main Sediczjan infantry arm from its adoption in 1952 to its replacement in 1978. Firing a 7.3x50mm cartridge from a 20 round magazine, the weapon utilised a tilting bolt operated by a short-stroke gas piston. Replacing a mix of self-loading and bolt-action rifles, the rifle's 7.3x50mm cartridge was intended to give less recoil and weigh less than the earlier standard 7.92x57mm cartridge while maintaining similar ballistics.

Initially, the weapon was issued with only two magazines, with the spare magazine being intended as an emergency reserve and the rest of the 100-round basic load being carried on ten-round clips, with normal reloading being performed using the integral charger guide. However, this was later changed to an issue of five magazines, with an additional 60 rounds carried on clips stored in the rucksack, which itself was typically stored either in or on the infantryman's vehicle.
